01 COLD WORK STEEL
Annealing:
Heat to 760º - 780ºC and hold for sufficient time to ensure uniformity then allow to cool slowly. This should result in a hardness of 229HB max.
Hardening:
Pre-heat 650º - 700ºC oil quench from 800º - 820ºC. Do not soak.
Tempering:
Temper as soon as possible after hardening to suit requirements. Refer to tempering curve for typical hardness.
D3 COLD WORK STEEL
Annealing:
Heat to 850º - 870ºC and hold for sufficient time to ensure uniformity then allow to cool slowly. This should result in a hardness of 255HB max.
Hardening:
Pre-heat 750º - 800ºC oil quench from 930º - 950ºC.
Tempering:
Temper as soon as possible after hardening to suit requirements. Refer to tempering curve for typical hardness.
